PINS Awareness Week
4th October - 10th October
PINS (Pelvic Instability Network Scotland) is a registered Scottish Charity which is committed to raising awareneness of Pelvic Girdle Pain / Sypmhysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) and their aim is to ensure that early and appropriate treatment is available to all those affected. It is estimated that 1 in 5 women are affected by pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy with around 1 in 20 having serious problems with pain and/or mobility. Research has shown that untreated around 7% of women will still experience symptoms beyond three months post natally if the condition is untreated. It can be a very painful, debilitating and isolating condition. Please help to raise awareness! Pelvic Instability Network Scotland will be holding its second annual PINS Awareness Week from the 4th to 10th October 2010. This is an ideal opportunity for all members, supporters and friends to help increase (PGP) across the UK (and the world), raise the profile of PINS and boost funds at the same time.
The more everybody does during PINS Awareness Week, the more members can be gained and funds raised, the more the health profession will listen. Plans so far Chairman, Moira, along with other Committee members Avril, Lesley and Ailsa will be holding a fundraising evening in St Blaan’s Hall, Southend, Argyll during that week. • don’t buy take-away coffee this week and donate the money saved to PINS
• if you are creative, hold a sponsored knit-a-thon, or something similar
• clear out some junk, if you can, and sell it on ebay, or do a boot sale
• do a sponsored walk, bike ride, swim or run
