There can be a number of things that can bring on neck pain and one of the most common is muscle strain. This can be from doing too much of something such as stretching too far or stretching for too long. Some people may sleep in an awkward position which will cause a stiff neck the next day. Another common cause of neck pain can be from your joints being worn. Each and every part of your body can get weak or injured over time, from misuse or just everyday tasks and your neck is no exception. Over time you can develop what is known as osteoarthritis in the neck and this can be extremely painful. Sometimes there are just things that you may not be able to help such as disorders in your disks. This can cause pain in many areas of the body with the neck being the most common. You may find that the cushion that is in between your vertebras in your back, can weaken and start to dry up. This will cause a narrowing of your spinal cord which houses the nerves to your body. When the cord becomes narrowed or damaged it can cause neck pain and you will want to watch out for such things known as bone spurs that can put pressure on the nerves that will cause neck pain as well as pain in other areas of the body.
